Richard Louv

Journalist and Author “Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder.”

Richard Louv is the author of seven books about family, nature and community, including "Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder." Louv has appeared on numerous television and radio shows, including NPR's, "Morning Edition,” "Good Morning America", "PBS NewsHour with Jim Lehrer", and the "CBS Evening News." In addition to being a columnist for The San Diego Union-Tribune, he has written for The New York Times and other newspapers, and has served as a columnist and member of the editorial advisory board for Parents magazine. He is also an adviser to the Ford Foundation's Leadership for a Changing World award program and the Scientific Council on the Developing Child. He is married to Kathy Frederick Louv and is the father of two young men, Jason and Matthew. He prefers fishing to writing.
