Leah Missbach Day
Photographer & Co-Founder, World Bicycle Relief
Leah Missbach Day is a documentary photographer based in Chicago, IL. Leah completed her MFA in Photogaphy at Columbia College in Chicago, where she also served as adjunct factulty member for 8 years. Leah's work showcases her ability to connect with subjects and capture everyday moments that are simutaneously remarkable and common. Leah's work has been exhibited across the U.S. and internationally.
In 2005, Leah co-founded World Bicycle Relief, a global non-profit organization, which has since provided over 75,00 bicycles to families rebuilding livelihoods, caregivers combating disease and students seeking access to education. Leah frequently speaks on behalf of World Bicycle Relief, and as the organizaiton's primary photographer, her images and storytelling often serve as the crux of their international campaigns.
Leah's artistry extends to the written word with notable accomplishments including the forward to National Geographic's book, Wheels of Change: How Women Road to Freedom (With a Few Flat Tires Along the Way) and a rebuttal to the book, Why Save Africa? Additionally, Leah serves on the boards of ecoAmerica and Chikumbuso, a Women's and Orphan's Project in Zambia.
